We welcome all children and parents, whatever their needs. Our enrolment process starts with the invitation for parents and guardians to visit our nursery, admire the provision we offer and is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. We appreciate selecting the right child care for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make and aim for you to be fully informed during your nursery tour so no question is too big or too small! We will provide you with a detailed information pack and discuss your child care needs. We require a deposit payment to secure a place for your child, and then we plan the exciting process of settling in your family.
A flexible settling-in period will be arranged to ease the transition from home to the nursery environment. Settling-in takes 3 to 4 visits on average depending on your child’s needs. Each visit can vary from 30 minutes to 4 hours. During the first visit parents or carers will be asked to complete relevant permissions forms and share information about your child with a member of our team who will be caring for your child. This will range from their sleep and daily care routines to songs they enjoy and their favourite past times.
Parents and children can familiarise themselves with the nursery environment, meet our team and share any queries they might have. It is of paramount importance to us that these visits ensure that each child and their family feel secure and confident before their first day at Sweet Peas, we are happy to give your child more time to settle in if required.
A key person will have specific responsibilities for your child with the most important being that they ensure your child feels safe and has lots of fun with us at Sweet Peas. The key person will be someone who has gained a meaningful bond with your child, observes, assess, and guides your child throughout their journey at Sweet Peas. Your key person will keep written observations of your child’s development in their learning journey profile which is shared with you online. They will then join your child in their play and use effective questioning to further your child’s learning and development. Small group times are planned and children take part in these daily to build on their understanding and practise life long skills such as listening to one another’s opinions.
The key person will provide daily feedback to parents or carer about the progress of their child and talk about the activities they have been taking part in, both in the nursery and at home.
We utilise a strong backup system where each child will have at least one significant other that will take time to learn their needs and interests and be able to provide a high level of care in the absence of or alongside their Key Person.
