At Sweet Peas, we teach children the importance of living a healthy lifestyle from a very young age. Menus are carefully planned to include a balanced diet of locally sourced wholesome produce and our free flow system (available to our 3-5 year olds) allows children secure access to the outdoor play area at their leisure.
All our food is freshly prepared daily in our 5-star commercial kitchens from locally sourced produce. And it’s really yummy!
Meal times are a social occasion at Sweet Peas and all children and practitioners wash their hands before each meal and sit down together. If little ones have their breakfast with us they are encouraged to brush their teeth afterwards.
Our mealtimes are another opportunity for our children to socialise with their key person and friends. The children learn how to eat together, feed themselves and even more reluctant eaters will try the foods they see their friends eating. We encourage babies to explore food, reflecting individual preferences for both purees and finger foods and support baby led weaning.
We cater for a variety of dietary requirements and love to introduce new tastes and textures, incorporating lots of fruit and vegetables at every meal time, which will benefit the children for the rest of their lives.
A variety of healthy snacks, milk and water are offered throughout the day to help improve concentration, growth and development.
Children love the outdoors and being active plays a key role in staying healthy. Our outdoor activities and games aim to build on abilities, confidence, physical strength and rules. And sometimes it helps to just burn off excess energy!
Our colourful, welcoming garden is designed with a child-friendly, all-weather surface. The garden is used to provide fun, exciting activities and a wealth of new learning experiences for all children from babies up to 5 years of age.
It might be messy play, obstacle courses or improving their cycling skills on our range of bicycles. Whatever their interest, all children have regular access to the outdoors throughout the day, and our 3-5 year olds have access at all times via our free flow system. Playing outdoors after dark can be very exciting for children giving them the freedom to explore and use their senses. It helps them to develop not just physically but mentally as well.
