Other Comments

Feedback on dedicated cleaning
Read More
“In other nurseries I was responsible for both cleaning and cooking duties. We’d be paid until 6pm but as we were unable to vacuum and mop the floors while children were present, it often meant leaving as late as 6.20 pm. At Sweet Peas all our teams finish at 6pm safe in the knowledge that the cleaning team would take over.”
Feedback on spacious suites

“In a smaller nursery, I would have to tidy up after an activity in order to start a new one. You couldn’t safely have sand, water and construction activities out all at the same time. At Sweet Peas, we are fortunate to have expansive spaces that allow us to facilitate multiple activities simultaneously. This unique advantage enables children to revisit and reinforce their learning experiences at any time.”
Feedback on having a dedicated housekeeper

“It is amazing having everything I need at my fingertips, clean and ready to go. With our dedicated housekeeper, we maintain high hygiene standards. For example, the correct size of nappies for each suite, checked multiple times a day, is a massive bonus.”
Feedback on having a SENCo

“Following the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the prevalence of special educational needs. At Sweet Peas we take immense pride in having a dedicated coordinator for special educational needs, who plays a pivotal role in enhancing and empowering our team's skills in real-time. She serves as an invaluable source of guidance, offering advice on matters such as how to deescalate situations by effectively communicating the need to pause an engaging activity for lunchtime handwashing.”
Feedback on lunchtime cover

“In my previous position, I often refrained from taking a full lunch break due to insufficient coverage and the anticipation of a child waking up. At Sweet Peas, having full lunchtime coverage is truly wonderful, and there's no sense of unease about taking the entire break."
Feedback on Famly App

"Documenting learning used to be a heavy part of my role. Now there is no paperwork. The Famly App at Sweet Peas is so quick and easy. I can even register 6 children’s activity simultaneously.”
Feedback on play

“We provide the happiest experiences because learning should be fun. When we asked our teams, what embodies the team spirit at Sweet Peas, ‘Playful’ emerged as a prominent theme. By getting down on the floor to search for the bear during the bear hunt, we aim to instill in children the sense of freedom to explore just as freely."

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a typical working day look like?

Each Suite has their own daily routine to follow which is displayed in the Suite and will be shown to you by your Suite Leader on arrival. Although it varies slightly per Suite, much of the timings and concept is the same.

  • Every morning we warmly welcome children and families into our Suites and find out any information we need to know about the child for that day.
  • We share breakfast before going into adult led “wake-up, shake-up” which is followed by group time with our Key People.
  • We then have free flow play for children, where adults go into children’s play to encourage and extend their learning and understanding.
  • Adults will ensure the areas of provision are set up to be engaging and interesting for children to go and explore.
  • We share a two course meal together for lunch and following this, some children will nap and others will have some quiet time.
  • The Suites are cleaned thoroughly following lunch ready to be set up for free flow play and focused activities to begin again following afternoon snack.
  • Until tea time, and following this, adults will again play with children in areas of provision.
  • Towards the end of day we ensure team members are available to give warm handovers to families about their children’s time with us that day and also ensure the room is tidy, safe and organised ready for the next morning.
What is expected of me?

We would hope that you embrace all of the experience of being part of our team at Sweet Peas. Each day, we ask for you to engage with our children and do your best to make them feel safe, secure and listened to. It is important that you are reflective and open to advice, support and encouragement from both your coordinator (if applicable) and the team around you. There is a helpful leaflet for you to read on your first day and gives pointers around conduct, safeguarding, behaviour management and playing with children.

Who will I go to with any questions or concerns?

All of our team are really approachable, but should you have any direct concerns, your Suite Leader will be here for you. If your concern is about the safety or wellbeing of a child in our care, you should speak with our Designated Safeguarding Officers, Chloie or Tiff.
