Our Curriculum
At Sweet Peas, we are passionate about supporting babies and young children to become confident, capable and curious life-long learners.
“Play is essential for children’s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, to think about problems, and relate to others. Children learn by leading their own play, and by taking part in play which is guided by adults.”
(Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage)
Our holistic curriculum is thoughtfully shaped for every child from birth to five. Rooted in warm relationships and a high-quality emotional environment, it places your unique child at the heart of every decision we make. Inspired by both the EYFS statutory framework and the Birth to Five Matters guidance, we ensure that children learn and thrive in an environment that celebrates their individuality and supports their natural curiosity.

Characteristics of Effective Learning
From their earliest days, children arrive with a natural drive to explore, communicate, form connections and make sense of the world. Our curriculum nurtures these instincts, gently building upon them as your child grows so they continue to meet each milestone with confidence and joy.
Your child will be supported by a Key Person who knows them deeply, works closely with you, and helps to create personalised next steps reflecting their interests, personality and developmental needs. Through calm, meaningful interactions, your child learns to express themselves, share experiences, take turns, try new challenges, understand their feelings and learn from everyday moments.

Exciting Activities That Foster Curiosity and Joy
Each day is thoughtfully planned to offer a balance of cosy, calming spaces and rich opportunities for exploration, both indoors and outdoors. Children follow their own fascinations while also engaging in carefully designed experiences that help them grow, stretch and discover new ideas.
Our Early Years Educators draw on their expert knowledge of child development — together with the guiding principles of the EYFS and Birth to Five Matters — to shape activities that promote curiosity, resilience and a genuine love of learning. Through gentle questioning, connection and encouragement, we help children build strong foundations for confident, joyful learning.

British Values in a Sweet Peas Way
Throughout the year, children enjoy a range of celebrations and cultural experiences that help them learn about similarities and differences between families, cultures and beliefs. These moments support a deep sense of belonging and community.
Whether they are tasting new foods, exploring traditional music, creating art, hearing stories from around the world or proudly sharing their own family traditions, children gain a rich understanding of their place in a diverse world. From birthdays to nativities to religious festivals, every celebration is a moment of joy, inclusion and togetherness.
