Meet the Team

Kirsty – SENCO & Inclusion Manager

Garforth

My name is Kirsty, and I am passionate about supporting children to feel confident, valued, and understood in their learning journey.
When I qualified, I specialised in Early Years Education and have worked in education for the past ten years.
During this time, I have gained a wide range of experience supporting children from Early Years through to Year 6. I have also worked as a SENCo in a large, diverse primary school, where I developed strong experience in identifying and supporting children with additional needs.
My main aim is to ensure that every child at Sweet Peas feels happy, safe, and supported. I enjoy spending time getting to know each child as an individual, identifying any barriers to learning, and putting appropriate support in place to help them thrive. I strongly believe in working in partnership with families and other professionals to ensure that each child has the best possible opportunities to reach their full potential.

Tracey – PA to Managing Director

Garforth

My name is Tracey, I work in the reception office and my role is Personal Assistant to the Managing Director and support to management as well as all our lovely families. Diane – Finance Manager

Garforth

My name is Diane, and I am the Finance Manager at Sweet Peas, joining the team in 2025. I have worked as an accountant across both the private and public sectors since achieving my degree and professional qualification.

This is my first experience working in a child-led environment, and it has been wonderful so far. It’s lovely to see how rewarding the work is with children, and I really value the amazing family feel here at Sweet Peas.

Outside of work, my passion is music, and I enjoy attending the theatre on a regular basis. I also love spending time with friends—whether that’s going for a walk, having a good chat, or relaxing together over a drink.

Liane – Nursery Receptionist

My name is Liane and I have recently joined Sweet Peas admin after teaching Early Years for the past 20 years. I love working with children and their families and it brightens my day when I see them coming into nursery with big smiles on their faces.

Most of my spare time is spent looking after my animals. I have two dogs, Fleur and Mavis and a very large and demanding tortoise, Kevin. When I am not looking after them, I love being outside, visiting historical settings and watching Star Wars!

Sophie

Garforth

My name is Sophie, and I am the Suite Leader for the Discoverer Suite.

I hold a CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early years workforce and have been part of the Sweet Peas family since 2018. During my time here, I’ve worked across all age groups, but I’ve found my true passion lies in working with Toddlers.

From a young age, I loved caring for children — spending time looking after my cousins inspired me to study Early Years at college and pursue a career in childcare. My experience has always been within Early Years nurseries, where I enjoy every aspect of the daily routine: from messy play and singing to getting creative and having fun while learning and growing.

I’ve had the joy of watching so many children come through our doors and grow into the best little versions of themselves. Building relationships with families and becoming a small part of their lives is something I truly value.

My own little boy is my pride and joy, and I’m so happy that he’ll be joining our Sweet Peas family too!

Josh

Garforth

My name is Josh and I hold a Level 6 First Class Honours degree in Early Childhood Studies. At Sweet Peas, I am the Suite Leader for Explorer Suite, where my passion and expertise lie in preparing our Explorers for school. Graduation is always my proudest and favourite event, as it marks such an important milestone in their journey.

Day to day, I’m the boss at building towers and love sharing my sporting knowledge with the children in the outdoor area. For me, it’s all about combining fun with learning to help children grow in confidence and be ready for their next adventure.

Liv

Garforth

My name is Liv, and I am the Suite Leader in the Baby Suite. I completed my placement at Sweet Peas and feel proud and lucky to now hold this role. Since starting here from college, I have learned so much and continue to grow every single day. I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Play, Learning and Development.

As a team, we work hard to create a warm and welcoming environment, fully appreciating that leaving your baby in our care is a big step. We aim to make this transition as smooth and reassuring as possible for both children and parents.

In my spare time, I enjoy treating myself at the shops, socialising with friends and you really can’t beat a long afternoon nap!

Akib

Garforth

My name is Akib and I’m one of the educators at Sweet Peas nursery. Childcare wasn’t the career I originally expected to follow, but it’s one I’ve grown to really enjoy. No two days are ever the same, and the challenges I face make my role both rewarding and interesting.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies and a Master’s in Childhood and Education. These qualifications have given me a strong understanding of the EYFS, which I’m able to apply in practice every day.

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, playing football, and spending time with my family and friends—it’s my way of relaxing and recharging.

Millie

In my own time, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy going on holiday and travelling/visiting different countries.

During my final university placement, I worked in a school, which inspired me to pursue a career in Early Years. I joined Sweet Peas in May 2024 and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team and getting to know the children and families.

I love seeing the joy on children’s faces when they recognise me and feel safe and comfortable — it truly makes my day. I believe that a balance of familiar routines and opportunities for independent choice helps children thrive and develop confidently.

Outside of work, I’m a keen reader and run my own Instagram book review page. I also love spending quality time with my family.

Emma

My name is Emma and I’ve been working in childcare since 2005, starting straight after school—and I’ve never looked back. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Children’s Care and Education and over the years I’ve worked with different age groups.

My preferred age range is 3–5-year-olds, as I love helping them develop their personalities, grow in independence and get ready for their school journey.

Being part of their learning journey is incredibly rewarding, and I enjoy supporting them as they build confidence, skills, and independence.

When I’m not at work, you will often find me lost in a good book or playing rugby, a sport I have enjoyed since I was 12 years old. I also love spending time with my family, especially my four younger siblings, who have always looked up to me. Family is very important to me, and I enjoy making memories with them whenever I can.

Diane

Garforth

My name is Diane, and from a young age I knew I wanted to work with children. Growing up in a big family, I spent much of my childhood caring for siblings and cousins, which inspired me to pursue a career in childcare. I went on to complete my NVQ Level 3 in Child Development at college before beginning my career in nurseries.

Over the years, I’ve worked with all age groups, but I always find myself drawn back to babies. Watching them flourish and grow brings me so much joy, and the bonds I’ve built with my key children, and their families have helped prepare them for the next stage of their early years journey.

One of my favourite ways to begin the day is with a Wake Up Shake Up rave—it’s the perfect way to get everyone moving, smiling, and ready for the day ahead!

When I’m not at nursery, I like to keep active and healthy by visiting the gym, walking, and running for miles.

Emily

My favourite activities with children are messy play experiences, especially using shaving foam, as they encourage creativity, exploration, and lots of fun!
